Blessed Life
Few days ago, I just got the news that my grandma has passed away. She was 97 year old and I guess she has already lived long enough and it's time for her to rest. No more pain from her sickness, and nothing to worry anymore cause she has left with peace.
It made me think of how time flies. I don't have any grandparents now which kinda made me sad. There are a lot of childhood memories that I could remember with my grandmas and grandpas but I guess good things always come to an end.
My grandpa from mom's side passed away before I was born, so I didn't have any memories with him while for my grandma, there are a lot of memories with her. I still remember every Chinese New Year, we would gather in her house. She would prepare the best meals that she cooked with my aunties, preparing a lot of fruits, making sure all our tummy was full. She loves to give us money randomly so my cousins and I can go to the market to buy some snacks for ourselves without telling our parents.
According through the stories from my mom, she's a strong woman yet selfless. She always work everytime there's an opportunity from opening a restaurant to selling spare parts machine, in order to feed 11 children. She's a tough woman who always try to give her best for her children even to her granddaughters and grandsons.
Let's talk from my dad's side. They both live at another city which make us hardly meet. We usually gather during Christmas and yeap they are wonderful too! My memories with my grandpa always be the soda bottle. Back then, I fought with my brothers to choose which brand of soda bottle that we should buy. Three of us choose different brands until we fought. Then, my grandpa decided to buy those 3 for each of us and let us compete to drink the whole thing. Of course, we couldn't finish until we didn't want to drink anymore and he said, "that's why you need sharing and never fight with your siblings." I was so young back then, maybe 6 years old? But that lesson always stuck in my mind.
My grandma whom I called "ema" passed away last year due to heart diseases. She's a great grandma who likes to cook and bake a lot! Everytime she came to visit us, she will teach my mom and I to cook or bake and we got most of our family's recipes from her. She would ask what we want to eat and she would cook for wholeheartedly. No one can beat her cooking even my mom said it.
Loosing all the grandparents makes me thing that I'm really in the midst of adulting, indeed. There will be more responsibilities ahead and it's my turn to start taking care of my parents. I have this discussion with my brothers that now is the time for us to give back to them. They have done a lot, they sacrifice a lot, so currently what I did, is not only for myself but it's also for them.
God has been so good to my family, giving us His blessings and providence from time to time. I'm so grateful with the family that I have, who knows God before I was born. Best grandparents, best parents, and best siblings. It's such a blessing to be introduced to God since the day I'm here. Having a family with the same foundation who can pray and support for one another until God calls us one by one. I know we will gather again up there for sure. Such a blessed life.
